After the Shanghai ScrumGathering 2010, I decided to start my own public blog for my thinking, since I can get more fresh air to improve myself, and find a good web blog hosting is also interesting

1. Select blog system and Give up for free blog quickly
   WordPress system is de-facto for blog system with lots of themes, so I didn’t want to try others.

   Most of technical guru has their own blog with more freedom, common blog system has lots of limitation and anonying advertisement.

2. Select webhosting site needs time
   Actually though as you now see, I already hosted in webhostingpad.com, I still think I didn’t checked so much before I decided this, at least yearly fee for DNS and accessing speed doesn’t check well, anyway back to the beginning

   Firstly, I give up the private machine to host my domain, since it is unstable, then I talked with lots of colleagues to check how they hosting the service, http://godaddy.com is recommened. And find the link Web Hosting Geeks from http://www.agileway.cn.

   Secondly, narrow down and think from my business needs, and http://webhostingpad.com and http://bluehost.com are in my final list, see the links for the diff

   Finally, I choose the cheaper one , and fill credit card, click “Yes”

   Actually I don’t consider the local vendor due to complex domain name procedure and as Chinese, I am used to “崇洋媚外”

3. Domain name is most trikcy
   Actually selecting a good domain name is always tricky like for a name for my son, shall be cool or connected with own name. http://www.namemasher.com/ is interesting to generate web 2.0 name.

   http://www.b8code.com (8 means eight –> better codes) is also considered once, and finally choose http://codeslife.com , not excellent, just so so. I just don’t want to spend so long time on this domain, probably I will change it later years.

   DNS name is better registered with webhosting server together to avoid DNS ip address link.

4. Cost
   Different webhosting has different packages, mainly they are webhosting free, dns fee, dns protection fee
     1.99$/mon * 36 months (webhosting)
   +    1$/mon * 12 months (domain private protection fee) ? maybe not important
   +14.95$/year                  (domain fee, free for first year)   
   - 14.95$
   It is not so expensive
5. Start the blog system
   Web hosting is not cloud computer, there are lots of limitations since it is shared with others, but it is good enough for me now.

   Quickly get the link to the admin page, DNS is ok quickly as well, does to its cpanel admin webpage, one-click to install the wordpress system, see right cpanel GUI

   So simple, but it is so slow in the beginning, I complain to the live support (very good support) for the slow response, they said they could not improve this, I worried this so much, even think of 30days money back (can’t return dns fee), fortunately the second day, it goes well

   Download another wordpress theme and upload to my system is also simple, i can unpack it over the web.
